Dexter Cartwright, Chief Financial & Strategy Officer

Mr. Cartwright’s career spans more than 30 years with 22 in telecommunications operations. This includes International Management experience in the Bahamas, Canada, US, Caribbean and Latin America. Prior to his telecom operations role, Mr. Cartwright held roles of audit manager at Deloitte Toronto, Ontario and Arthur Andersen, Miami.

In 2000, he was one of the initial 15 employees that were responsible for the planning and the construction of the ARCOS-1 Submarine Network, a $400m capital project. ARCOS-1 was completed in 2001 and connects the US with 14 countries in the Caribbean, South and Central America. In this role, he set up the company’s tax, legal, regulatory, human resources and operating structure for its international wholesale operations. He also played an important role in the launch of a telecom Business to Business (“B2B”) operation that involved acquisitions in eight countries and greenfield startup operations in several more countries along with the creation of cloud compute facilities within the Caribbean, Central and South America. He led the integration of these acquisitions within the existing operating structure.

He also played a key role in the formation of the 2013 joint venture with Cable & Wireless that expanded the wholesale operations and later the 2015 Columbus Communications merger with Cable & Wireless. In 2016, Liberty Global acquired Cable & Wireless.

He has managed the deployment of more than $1b of capital investments comprising over 48,000 Kms of submarine fiber optic networks spanning across 40 countries and 60 cable landing stations along with over 20,000 kms of metro and long-haul fiber networks. These successful investments helped form the basis by which C&W Networks gained the recognition as a leader  in the ongoing development, implementation and innovation of international and regional  wholesale Networks including Carrier Ethernet and MPLS services.  That industry recognition is underscored by the fact that C & W Networks was awarded the best Caribbean wholesale Carrier Award for four consecutive years, 2016 Metro Ethernet Forum “Best Carrier Ethernet services provider and innovator”  and most recently the Wholesale Service Innovation worldwide award category in the Global Telecom Business Telecoms Innovation Awards 2017 in London.

Mr. Cartwright participated in various group debt financings that exceed $1B and was responsible for the management of various syndicated debts of up to $300m.  His operational finance career begun with early project start up entities and has since grown to a mature company with revenues exceeding $400m.

He served a year as the interim CEO of Bahamas Telecommunications Company between 2017 and 2018 and most recently as the CFO Cable & Wireless B2B $1m+ revenue division from August 2018.

Mr. Cartwright is a CPA and Graduate of the College of The Bahamas with an Associated of Arts in Accounting with Distinction, Bachelor of Accounting – Cum Laude Florida International University. In addition, he has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida.
